Creative activity boxes receive positive feedback from local families
Published on 8th June 2020.
Since lockdown we have been working with our local Family Centre at Wellspring Settlement and other community groups to support families in our local community with creative activity boxes, enabling children and young people to be creative in their own homes.
You can find out more about the process of making the creative activity boxes in our story here, featuring an interview with our Artistic Director, Heidi Vaughan, and artist Edwina Bridgeman.
So far there has been a lot of positive feedback from families in the community. The Family Centre said:
"Thank you to all who helped in making this happen - it is amazing to hear how much the families are enjoying the packs – thank you!”
Read on to see more of the feedback received so far.

Feedback from the Family Centre:
“One parent who was really struggling with home schooling found the art boxes a great way for her child to engage in something he enjoys and find his creative side. It's a project of his own ideas doing his own design”.
“Another parent said: thank you I could not get art materials and didn't want to take my children shopping (single parent) knowing that they may not have art items so this took the stress away from us and gave them a project to do at home.”
“A few parents said (when the art boxes got delivered to their door): WOW I didn't expect this so thoughtful - thank you”.
“All parents all said: THANK YOU SO MUCH”.
“The feedback from the art boxes that got delivered to their doorstep was of great delight and it made their day saying thank you for thinking of us.”
It is wonderful to hear that the creative activity boxes are appreciated by our local families - we are pleased to be able to support our local community in keeping creative in their own homes.
Thanks to the National Lottery Awards for All fund for supporting us to make this happen.

Our activity boxes form just one element of the fantastic range of local free services that Wellspring Settlement have been providing to support the local community during COVID-19. These include distribution of food parcels and cooked meals, prescription collections and dog walking, family services (including access to a garden facility for families with no outdoor space), a telephone befriending support service, and shopping for the most vulnerable residents.
