We deliver an extensive creative learning programme in schools to support teachers, providing engaging activities where pupils can grow in confidence and creativity; as well as supporting their curriculum work.

Bring one of our touring theatre shows into your school, book a bespoke drama workshop or Arts Day - there are many ways we can help your school keep creativity in the curriculum.

Access

We want to ensure that children and families can access and enjoy our work, and to reduce barriers wherever we can. For example we offer:

  • We ensure that teachers are involved in the planning stages of our creative learning projects to ensure they are inclusive for all children involved.
  • We scaffold our activities to meet the needs of participants. We offer creative challenges but meet your students where they are on their learning journey.
  • Our facilitators will come to you. We understand the logistical and cost barriers around travel for schools and will work around the timetables and spaces that you have available for us.

FAQ

  • We do not currently have a ready-made Christmas/School production. What we can do is offer Directing/Devising/Dramaturgical support during rehearsals and on the day of your production.

If you are looking for something more bespoke, devised by the children themselves, please take a look at our Play in a Week project. We can put together a package that works for your setting to create a new and exciting play that will be produced by your fantastic young people and supported by a team of experienced facilitators.

Do also keep an eye out for our school tours if you would like a Travelling Light show to visit your school.

  • We can work with you to create bespoke workshops that work alongside your curriculum or wider school projects. We have an experienced team of facilitators from a wide range of creative backgrounds who are great at listening and responding to the voices of the young people who we work with.

Please check out our Arts Days if you are looking for inspiration for a whole school approach. If you are interested in embedding Drama into the wider curriculum, have a look at our Light Up School Learning project.

If you would like to find out more about how young people are inspiring our work, you can read this interview with our Artistic Director Lizzy Stephens - Play and exploration - creating new work with children and young people.

  • We hope to have an offer for Year 10 students in the future and this is something we are working on with other arts organisations across the city to find a sustainable approach.

In the meantime, if you are in Year 10 and looking for work experience opportunities, here are some other arts organisations who offer work experience opportunities: Bristol Old Vic, Knowle West Media Centre, RWA, Bristol Beacon and Watershed. You may find further information and career insights from Bristol Works.

If you are a teacher and are interested in us delivering an arts industry-based careers workshop for your students, please get in touch.

  • We can offer consultation around arts-based learning strategies, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions for school teams and 1:1 mentoring with staff who are interested in developing this part of their teaching practice.
