Access
We want to ensure that children and families can access and enjoy our work, and to reduce barriers wherever we can. For example:
- Louder Than Words is a specialist Youth Theatre group for D/deaf and Disabled young people.
- We try to make sure all our Youth Theatre groups are inclusive and there are young people with additional needs in all our groups. Please speak to us about your child’s requirements and we can discuss the group that might be the best fit.
- We use a visual timetable to help participants understand the format of the session and the room is set up in the same way each week.
- We use a variety of resources to engage young people in the sessions and there is quiet space and chill out zone provided in each session.
- There is step free access to the Travelling Light studio and an accessible toilet.
- Relaxed performances and signed BSL performances.
- Watch a short video with Rebecca, our Lead Facilitator for Louder Than Words. Rebecca welcomes you to Travelling Light and gives you a quick tour from the entrance at Wellspring Settlement on Ducie Road and into the Travelling Light studio, where our drama sessions take place.
About Us
We create theatre with and for children and young people in our local community of Barton Hill, Bristol. We have been running Louder Than Words, our unique drama group for young D/deaf and Disabled people since 2013. We ran ActionSpeak for 5 years, a free theatre group for young D/deaf and Disabled people aged 16+, in partnership with WECIL (The West of England Centre for Inclusive Living). We have also delivered two summer schools for young D/deaf and Disabled people in partnership with WECIL.
