The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2022

We took part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2022 – the UK’s biggest match funding campaign.

One donation, twice the impact - between 29 November– 6 December 2022 your donations were doubled by match funding.

We set a target of raising £2,000 or more from individuals (£4,000 or more with match funding added) between Tuesday 29 November - Tuesday 6 December 2022.

Thanks to the generous donations of Travelling Light supporters we exceeded our £4,000 target, raising £4,850 (over £5,000 with gift aid).

What were we fundraising for?

We were raising funds to organise a free trip to the theatre for families in our local community of Barton Hill, Bristol, to see our family show Belle and Sebastien at Bristol Old Vic.

Many families in our local area face barrier to attending a performance such as cost, lack of transport, and being worried about feeling unwelcome. The show provided a joyful experience for families to share together. Tickets and transport were provided, and a group trip ensured a welcoming and accessible experience.

As well as paying for the costs of a theatre trip, additional funds raised will support families to continue their engagement through free workshops in the school holidays. These will be delivered with community partners and will support children with free meals and positive creative activities.
