Support creativity, imagination and fun for disabled young people
ActionSpeak and Louder Than Words provide a vital space for connection and creativity.
Each week 30 disabled young people enjoy sessions packed with play and imagination. They express themselves, have fun, make friends and learn new skills in drama, music and storytelling in a supported and friendly environment.
The past 18 months have been particularly difficult for young disabled people, with Covid-19 creating increased isolation and anxiety for many. That is why we have run weekly drama sessions online throughout the pandemic. The groups have provided a regular space for creative adventures at home, supporting friendships, connection and wellbeing. This summer, we are delighted to be returning to face-to-face sessions in the Travelling Light studio, with flexible support to meet each young person’s needs.
We need your help to continue to run ActionSpeak and Louder than Words this autumn, supporting young people’s confidence, self-expression and friendships as we return to community life.
Your support will help to keep the groups running, providing flexible face to face and digital activities and reaching more young people in our community.

Young people have told us how important the groups are to them:
“I feel like I can get a lot out of my head, that’s just been there for weeks and months. It’s nice and relaxing. It just gets a lot of things off my chest.”
“It’s a unique opportunity to express yourself in various ways.”
ActionSpeak and Louder Than Words cost £9,000 to run each term.
Our target is to raise £2,000 to secure funding towards keeping these vital groups going from Autumn 2021 onwards.
