Showcasing young people’s creativity and imagination
Published on 10 April 2024.
On Saturday 23 March we celebrated the creativity and imagination of our youth theatre members and the team of artists who support them.
It was a brilliant day of creativity and joy with Louder Than Words, 7-10's, 11-13's and 14-19's performing to an audience of family and carers, friends and invited guests.
This year each group took inspiration from Travelling Light’s remount production of Igloo, a non-verbal show depicting two siblings waiting for it to snow. From there, the groups devised and developed completely new stories, which showcased each group’s unique and collaborative ideas.
First up, Louder Than Words presented a piece that showcased their Super Energy Power! Each participant had made a Hero character which centred around something they love or feel passionate about. Louder Than Words is our free youth theatre group for disabled children aged 7+.

Next up, the 7-10’s took the theme of waiting from Igloo, taking the audience on a journey through their daily routines, exploring the different feelings and emotions they have while doing these everyday tasks.
In the afternoon, the 11-13's presented ‘The Story of the Lightbulb’ - inviting audiences into their story about a heist in London that goes incredibly wrong, featuring an unreliable group of detectives, thieves and tourists.
Lastly, the 14-19’s presented an engaging series of stories, which we've all heard before, but retold from an interesting new perspective with a twist or a difference, travelling through many different places and times.

Congratulations to all the young people involved.
All the performances were devised by the young people with the help of our youth theatre facilitators, assistants and volunteers.
Thank you to our wonderful team of facilitators, assistants and volunteers, all the artists that contributed to the creation of the performances, to all the families and audiences for their support, and last but not least, our youth theatre members for their talent and creativity.
