Nameless (2010)
About the show
We commissioned Soho Theatre young writer Shireen Mula to write a play using the experiences of local young people that had their ideas at its heart whilst avoiding the clichés associated with theatre for teenagers. Our Youth Theatre performed the resulting show at Arnolfini on 26, 27 & 30 June 2010. For many of the young performers this was their first experience of acting.
After suffering a violent and seemingly unprovoked attack, Kieran lies alone in a coma. Footage of the attack filmed on a mobile phone finds its way to the internet, where a chorus of nameless gossips retrace, distort and confuse the brutal event. As this sensitive story unfolds the audience is exposed to the harsh realities of gang loyalty and the unseen fantasies of the Facebook generation.
