Cloudland (2003, 2004)
About the show
Our 24th original production was the first directed by Sally Cookson, inspired by the book by John Burningham. The show toured during autumn 2003 and it was twice extended into June 2004, due to overwhelming popularity from some of the venues and as a result of showing it at the Take Off Festival. At the time it became the longest tour we had ever managed, with the highest numbers in all categories of audiences, venues, performances and workshops.
Albert is thrilled when he falls off a mountain into the land of the light-as-a-bubble children who live in the clouds and play with storms and rainbows. There’s only one thought that weighs heavy - how will he get home again?
Beautifully conceived… quite magical… an enchanting piece of children’s theatre The Scotsman
A bold and frolicsome leap into a complete fantasy world, this musical, elemental piece is pure enchantment Time Out London Critic’s Choice
Travelling Light’s latest show is a real delight… a reminder that drama for the under-5s is one of the most inventive areas in British theatre today The Guardian
