Opportunity Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and strong physical performer to join the team for our upcoming production Wonder Baby.
This will be a new high-quality theatre offer for 0-3s and their families. Using movement and clowning, Wonder Baby explores physical play and its regulatory impact alongside the joyful experience of creating spaces for families and children to play together differently.
Playing age: you must be 18+
Height: Any
Gender: Female presenting or non-binary
We are looking for an open, playful disposition and warm approach to working with babies and young audiences. It is essential you have at least two of the following 3 skills: clowning, acrobatics and physical theatre.
You must be collaborative and at ease with ensemble-based devising. We are looking for performers comfortable with storytelling, with some musical capability – ability to hold a tune and move to music. Playing instruments would be a bonus.
The new work has been developed with local families in Barton Hill and artists as part of a thorough R&D, which will directly inform some of the artistic decisions in the piece. We will create an accessible non-verbal offer that engages children with additional needs and families whose first language is not English.
A base in the South West, particularly in Bristol is essential. Travelling Light is in the heart of Barton Hill, a culturally diverse area in inner city Bristol. We want our work to be reflective of our local audiences, so we are especially interested to hear from performers from the Global Majority; as we are keen this piece is representative of the community we’re based in and the audiences the show will be performing to.

Project dates and times:
Rehearsals: 21 September - 11 October 2026
Tour: 12 - 31 October 2026
Rate of Pay:
£631 per week. This is a payroll ITC/Equity contract which includes holiday pay accrual and pension entitlement.
Location:
Rehearsals: Travelling Light studio, Wellspring Settlement, 43 Ducie Road, Bristol BS5 0AX.
Run: Various Early Years and community settings in and around Bristol.
A base in the South West, particularly in Bristol is essential.
