Helen’s 5K Swim
This November the fantastic Helen Edwards (Participation Director Maternity Cover at Travelling Light 2017-18) is swimming a HALF MARATHON in support of the Travelling Light Participation Programme.
Speaking about her time with the company Helen said: “I've seen the incredible work that the organisation does for the children and families of Barton Hill and BS5 in Bristol… Travelling Light keep their fees deliberately low so the widest range of families can access the service. They also provide a large number of bursaries and fully funded places for those who need it because all children should have access to high quality arts activity no matter their family's income.
I could wax lyrical about Travelling Light and the brilliant work they do, but instead I'm going to try and raise some money for them. I've set my target at £350, which would pay for 10 young people to access Youth Theatre for a term on an 100% bursary.”
That means 10 young people can attend a FREE term of Youth Theatre where they have the opportunity to make new friends, explore their creativity, express themselves and have fun in weekly supportive workshops.
Anything you could spare to help Helen reach her £350 target (or even beat it!) would be fantastic.
Remember for every £1 you donate, Arts Council England’s Catalyst programme will also give £1, so your donation DOUBLES, meaning together we can do even more to support young people’s creativity.
Helen’s swim will cover a whopping 5km, take roughly 2 hours and will take place on Saturday 10th November at the London Aquatic’s Centre as part of the Marathon Swims event.
