Travelling Light Youth Theatre put on their end of term shows
We had a busy week last week with four end of term performances from the Travelling Light Youth Theatre.
Linking with our national tour of Strictly Balti all our Youth Theatre groups have been looking at autobiographical tales and verbatim theatre this term. We made scripts using the un-edited words of our young participants, with some intriguing results which truly reflected their voices and opinions. Our 4-6s took us on a trip down ‘Light Street’ and shared true stories about their houses and families with a magical festive twist! Our 7-10s invited us to ‘walk a mile in grown-up shoes’ and presented us with their take on what being an adult and a parent means in their eyes.
Last Thursday night, Youth Theatre friends and parents made their way to Hamilton House on Stokes Croft to watch the older groups perform. The 11-13s had created a onesie-clad ensemble piece, and explored their childhood memories, greatest achievements, fears and hopes for the future. This was followed by the 14-19s group, in gentler performance, who gave us some life advice through teenage eyes and pondered deep, philosophical questions. The sharings were great events and it was wonderful to see so many friends and parents supporting the Youth Theatre.
Wishing all our Youth Theatre Members, Friends and Parents a lovely festive season!
