Streetwise (1989, 1990, 1991)
About the show
Our ninth production looked at how we live in our overcrowded cities. Working in partnership with Bristol Urban Sudies Centre, the show was created and performed in the centre of Bristol, above the old Registry Office in Quakers Friars, and then toured to local schools during spring 1989 and again the following spring, in tandem with a new show WAVING GOODBYE. STREETWISE was remounted in summer 199I for a 3-week tour of Poland, shortly after the country had opened up to visitors following the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
The play is about Mr Thinwhite, a property developer, and Mrs Thinwhite, who lives to shop. Their daughter Laura (born outside Laura Ashley's), sets out to challenge them both.
