Lenny, The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Train (2007, 2008)
About the show
Our 29th original production was spotted by producer Jude and the directors of Theatr Iolo and CTC when it performed as LEON LE NUL by Francis Monty at the ASSITEJ festival in Montreal in 2005. The trio wanted to make their own versions in English, so worked together on acquiring rights. The script was translated by Paul Harman (CTC). The show toured 3 times to local schools and national venues in 2007 and 2008.
Lenny is short and skinny. Taunted by his classmates, patronised by his older brother and babied by his mother, he’s determined to become bigger and stronger than everyone. Secretly he begins eating iron nails… A touching and accurate portrayal of how it feels to be small in a big world, and what pent up frustration can make you do.
The actor was so focused and full of animation he had the audience really gripped by the drama St Gregory’s School
Excellent blend of realism and poetry Deer Park School
