Clown (2004, 2005, 2007)
About the show
Our 26th original show was our first co-production with Bristol Old Vic. Adapted from the wordless picture book by Quentin Blake, the show was our first entirely text-free production and formed an important part of an education research project we participated in with 5x5x5 = Creativity.
A small stuffed Clown gets thrown in a dustbin along with other discarded toys. Bravely, he goes off in search of help for his friends - and a new home.
The show opened at Bristol Old Vic for Christmas 2004, followed by a tour of local schools and national venues January - April 2005. It was remounted for a second tour in Autumn 2005, including visits to festivals in England. Ireland and Romania, and ended with a Christmas run at Komedia in Brighton, and for a third tour in summer 2007. It won the Critics' Award for Best Actors at the International Children's Festival in Bucharest.
An absolutely charming theatrical adventure Sunday Herald
Clown charms from start to finish.. it’s everything children’s theatre should be, and much that adult theatre should be too Venue Magazine
