A Thousand Seasons Past (2015)
About the show
From out of the mists drifts a ghost ship with a thousand stories to tell. Crewed by characters who lived and died around the Bristol docks, she weighs anchor in her home port and the spirits of those long departed briefly live again. Tragic teenagers, jilted lovers, cruel masters, the sad, bad and the plain unlucky all have their tales to tell.
Young perfomers from Bristol Old Vic Young Company, Travelling Light Youth Theatre and Hanham Woods Academy brought the waterfront site of Wapping Wharf and its unique history to life in a project supported by Umberslade, The Heritage Lottery Fund and Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives. The young company researched the history of the site, delving into public records, to contruct a unique theatrical experience performed in a specially constructed open air theatre, next to the M Shed, Bristol. The performances were fantastically well received, with queues for return tickets each night and great reviews.
